About Access to Recovery

What is Access to Recovery?

Access to Recovery ( ATR) is a Presidential initiative which provides funding for substance abuse clinical treatment and recovery support services.  The Great Plains Tribal Chairmen's Health Board administer an ATR program in collaboration with 18 federally recognized tribes of this region.

The Goals of the program are to:

Expand opportunities for healing in the region
Support the personal choices of tribal members
Increase the array of faith-based and community-based providers
Place the means to recover in the hands of the client
Support local knowledge and capacity to identify needs and solutions to substance abuse problems

The GPATR is funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). More Information about SAMHSA and other resources can be found at www.samhsa.gov
